We need you! There are volunteer opportunities for everyone! Over 2,000 individuals currently volunteer at Community Harvest Food Bank in a variety of ways including sorting food, SeniorPak delivery, assisting food collections and distribution, stuffing envelopes, assisting with special events, manning a booth for CHFB at information fairs, stocking shelves and much, much more.
Here are a few of the areas where we rely heavily on volunteers:
Reclamation: Volunteers inspect and evaluate damaged cans and packages of nonperishable food products, and sort and move these donations to the warehouse shopping area.
Community Cupboard: Volunteers stock shelves, sort food products, and help keep this small grocery store where clients shop looking great!
SeniorPak: Volunteers pack grocery bags of food for homebound seniors and then deliver them to their homes.
Farm Wagon: Volunteers help hand out food to over 600 families on Saturday mornings from 9am-11am.
Special Events: These events can include food and fund drives, elegant dinners, art exhibits, auctions, etc. These events are held throughout the year to raise funds for CHFB operations and food. We are always in need of volunteers to help plan, decorate, solicit auction items & sponsorships, greet guests, register participants, and take donations.
Independent Projects: If you can't make it to the food bank to volunteer you or your group can assist in other ways. We have plenty of ideas! Everything from collecting food to organizing a work crew to pull weeds.
