Farm Wagon A Community Harvest Direct Service Program |

On the way to distribute fresh
produce
![]() Perhaps you've seen our colorful Farm Wagon on the road - it's a brightly painted beverage truck loaded with fresh fruits and vegetables, salads, juices, dairy products - and it's on the way to distribute this great fresh food in the neighborhoods where the people who need it most live. They can choose the food they want and use it while it maintains high nutritional value. Initiated in October 1999 with funding from UPS, the Farm Wagon visits sites in Allen, Whitley, LaGrange, Adams, Steuben, Huntington, Wells, Dekalb and Noble counties. In just 12 months, the Farm Wagon distributed 542,834 pounds of food to over 15,000 people. Last year the Farm Wagon program distributed more than 2.4 million pounds of fresh produce and other perishables to various sites in our nine county service area. The Farm Wagon is currently funded in part by grants from the following foundations:
Edward M. & Mary McCrea Wilson Foundation
Lincoln Financial Group Foundation Here's
how the Farm Wagon works: a member agency agrees to host it
and arranges a delivery time. The agency publicizes
the delivery time to their clients. We stock the Farm
Wagon with donated produce and perishables, drive it
directly to the agency, open its doors, and allow the people
to select the fresh food of their choice.
