2022 WANE 15 ‘Day of Caring’ Giving Eclipses 2021

In 2021 WANE-TV channel 15 provided around 10,000 lbs of food at their annual ‘Day of Caring’ event. This provided roughly 8,300 meals to the 9 counties that Community Harvest serves. As the 2022 event approached, we saw a rise in gas prices, food prices and food scarcity, and a concern for what levels we could expect. This was a concern to anyone but Community Harvest’s President and CEO, Carmen Cumberland, who issued a challenge of bringing in 12,000 lbs of food.

The event day came and people showed up in droves. WANE TV’s staff manned the parking lot and even put together an internal drive of their own. When the dust settled and the food was weighed, our community helped Channel 15 bring in 13,448 lbs of food for Community Harvest to distribute throughout the community. The goal was not only hit but surpassed beyond expectations. It once again proves that northeast Indiana has some of the greatest communities of givers we have ever known. Thank you to all who donated either with food or financially.
