REPORTS TO: Maintenance & Transportation Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Maintenance of all required and/or necessary paperwork and logs in a neat, professional, and timely manner
Verification for accuracy and completeness of all outgoing product (for CHFB programs and member agencies).
Drive Food Bank vehicles to make product pickups and deliveries to agencies and affiliate food banks.
Complete bread pick-up and delivery route as assigned.
Load the vehicle properly and with enough advance time in order to make timely deliveries (must be able to operate forklift and electric pallet jacks)
Checks all product to insure compliance and quality several times/day
Properly supervises any volunteers assigned to the Farm Wagon program
Deliver/unload/reload product at various sites. (Unload incoming donations)
Inspect truck(s) daily as per DOT requirements and report any needed services or repairs to the Transportation Supervisor.
Good public relations skills representing Community Harvest Food Bank, donors, member agencies, and the community at large.
Reports all accidents that happen while performing pick-ups and deliveries
Clean interior and exterior of trucks as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect forklifts and electric jacks as required, check fluids and add water as needed, report any repairs needed to Transportation Supervisor.
Assist in other areas of the food bank as assigned
Ability to consistently lift/carry 50-75 pounds unassisted
Serv-Safe Certified.
Maintenance of a neat, clean, and professional appearance at all times
Evening and weekend hours as requested
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High level of personal integrity and honesty
Excellent oral and written communication skills
General ability to learn, reason, make judgments
Must have no driver-related misdemeanors or felonies
Must be able to consistently and correctly perform basic math skills at a high school level.
Must be able to pass random drug/alcohol screens
Knowledge and ability to operate standard warehouse equipment
Excellent interpersonal skills
A pleasant, team-oriented personality and an ability to work in an unsupervised environment
Excellent telephone communication skills
Attention to detail
Clearance of driving record check
Clearance of driver’s license background check.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, or drive for a minimum of eight hours.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Degree
Forklift Operation Safety Training Certificate
Familiar with food service concepts, practices, and procedures
A valid Indiana chauffer’s license, automobile insurance, and a reliable means of transportation
A willingness to receive all necessary or desired training or certification, including submission to a criminal background check
An ability to communicate in Spanish is desirable

WAREHOUSE ASSOCIATE – SOUTH BUILDING
STARTING WAGE: $15.00
HOURS: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am-4 pm

DEPARTMENT: Warehouse
REPORTS TO: South Building Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ensure that customer’s orders are accurately picked and staged. According to established guidelines and the appropriate “pick” sheet, accurately and thoroughly fulfill inventory order requests.
Inspects incoming product to ensure products for accuracy of Bill of Lading, container markings or damage, dates, temperature requirements and pest/contamination in accordance with Feeding America and Indiana’s Board of Health.
Accurately, efficiently and safely stores items on racks, shelves, bins or refrigerated rooms/freezers according to product type, size, expiration date or product code.
Utilize conscientious and safe handling of all warehouse material handling equipment including pallet jacks, hand dollies and forklift in order to avoid personal injury to self, others and damage to product, equipment or facility.
Remain knowledgeable of current inventory and inventory levels. Performs weekly cycle count, as instructed, by physically counting and accurately recording product quantity and type, notifying Inventory Control/Reclamation Supervisor immediately of discrepancies or problems.
Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area at all times including warehouse, grounds, bins, and equipment; cleans up spills immediately; keeps walk areas and exits clear; locks and secures equipment and facility as required.
Maintains optimal operating level of Food Bank equipment including oil, gas, fluid levels, battery, tires, etc. and reports any problems to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Correctly completes all necessary paperwork
Correctly weighs and documents all out-going product
Checks all product to insure compliance and quality several times/day
Demonstrates a pleasant, professional and helpful attitude at all times
Marks all products as required
Properly supervises any volunteers assigned to the warehouse
Continuously checks bin product for quality

PHYSICAL/LIFE SKILLS/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to consistently bend, twist, climb, reach above shoulders, kneel, squat, sit, stand, and lift up to 75 pounds.
Must have the ability to work with a diverse group of staff and volunteers
Must be able to read, comprehend and write in English at a high school level
Must be able to consistently and correctly perform basic math skills at a high school level
Must be able to perform basic computer tasks
Must have excellent oral communications skills
Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, fingers
Must be able to operate standard warehouse equipment
Must have a pleasant, team-oriented personality and be able to work in an unsupervised environment
Must be able to work in a wide range of environmental temperatures
Must be willing/able to work overtime and weekends as requested
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
Must have reliable means of transportation to and from work.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
1-3 years warehouse experience, including forklift and power equipment operation.
Must have or be willing to receive training necessary to possess any licenses/certificates required to be a successful warehouse assistant (example: fork-lift certificate, safe food handling certificate, first aid, etc.)
Ability to speak Spanish is desirable
