Grow a Row Program

Grow a Row Program

What is Grow a Row
In 2023, CHFB launched the Grow a Row initiative to make global events and supply chain issues less of an obstacle. By joining our network of local growers, you can support CHFB with fresh fruits and vegetables and provide much needed nutrition for northeast Indiana. The mission of the Grow a Row program is to provide an avenue for individuals, farms, and over 84 million gardening households to help the most vulnerable in their areas.

The Need is Great
There are 91,500 different individuals in northeastern Indiana, that utilize food pantries, soup kitchens, or shelters:

  • CHFB provides food for over 350 agencies throughout Adams, Allen, Dekalb, Huntington, Noble, LaGrange, Steuben, Wells, & Whitley Counties.
  • Up to 43% of families struggle to afford basic needs, including food.
  • One in seven Indiana Hoosiers face hunger daily.

As an Individual, You Make a Difference
Whether you are a beginner with a single patio plant, a seasoned green thumb with a full garden, or a farmer – you can grow and harvest food for Community Harvest. Plan ahead with dedicated plants or simply bring in your surplus vegetables, fruits, or herbs – we can then distribute them throughout our local communities! If the donation is large enough, we can arrange for it to be picked up by one of our trucks.
