Kids BackPack

Children are disproportional affected by food insecurity, being that 1 in 5 children are food insecure compared to 1 in 7 individuals. Knowing that, Community Harvest aims to alleviate some of that stress and support children. One of the ways we do that is with our BackPack program.

The goal of Community Harvest’s BackPack Program is to bridge the gap over the weekend when kids may not have access to meals through school or other programs. The bags are intended for school-age children with a focus on the food being accessible, nutritious, and kid-friendly.

We partner with schools and community organizations to get bags distributed in your community.

Kids BackPack FAQ

Participants receive a bag of shelf-stable, nutrition-focused, mostly ready-to-eat food that helps supplement meals over the weekend. Bags include single serve items like milk, cereal, pull-tab soup cans, ready to eat (RTE) meal pouches, ramen, juice, fruit, and snacks.

The Kids BackPack program is intended for school-aged children in need of food assistance. Each host site has discretion over the volume and age of kids served.

Access to the Backpack program varies from site to site. Reach out to the one nearest you to learn more information on how you can be a recipient of the program.

The method, discretion, and frequency of which food is distributed is decided by each host site. See the full list below and reach out to them for more information.
