Job Title: Driver

Are you a reliable and safety-conscious driver seeking a meaningful opportunity to contribute to your community? Community Harvest Food Bank is looking for a dedicated Driver to ensure the timely and safe transport of food donations and deliveries, helping us fight hunger in Northeast Indiana.

Essential functions

  • Safe and efficient transportation:
  • Operates Food Bank vehicles, including trucks, to pick up food donations and deliver them to agencies and affiliate food banks.
  • Adheres to all traffic laws, regulations, and company safety procedures while driving.
  • Loading and unloading expertise:
  • Loads and unloads vehicles properly, ensuring the safety and compliance of all outgoing and incoming products.
  • Operates forklifts and electric pallet jacks safely and efficiently for loading and unloading.
  • Verifies accuracy and completeness of all outgoing products for CHFB programs and member agencies.
  • Checks all products several times daily to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Relationship and communication skills:
  • Represents Community Harvest Food Bank with professionalism and excellent public relations skills when interacting with donors, member agencies, and the community at large.
  • Reports all accidents promptly that occur while performing pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Maintains all required and necessary paperwork and logs in a neat, professional, and timely manner.

Professional requirements

  • Valid chauffeur’s license or equivalent.
  • High level of personal integrity and honesty.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • General ability to learn, reason, and make sound judgments.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Able to pass alcohol, drug test and background check.
  • Ability to consistently lift/carry 50-75 pounds unassisted.
  • Serv-Safe Certified (or willingness to become certified).
  • Willingness to work evening and weekend hours as requested.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
