Community Harvest Food Bank seeks a qualified candidate for the position of VOLUNTEER SUPERVISOR. Community Harvest is a private, non-profit corporation located in Fort Wayne, Indiana serving Allen County and 8 surrounding counties. Our mission is to alleviate hunger through the full use of donated food and other resources in NE Indiana. CHFB has been an integral part of the local community since 1983 and we are seeking individuals who share the same passion of our mission.

VOLUNTEER SUPERVISOR POSITION SUMMARY:

The Volunteer Supervisor plays a vital leadership role in the development and execution of CHFB’s volunteer program. This high-level position oversees the Volunteer Manager and steps in as lead during their absence to ensure the smooth operation of all volunteer efforts. The Volunteer Supervisor is responsible for building strong community relationships to recruit and retain volunteers, enhancing volunteer experiences, and ensuring cross-departmental alignment for volunteer deployment across CHFB’s nine-county service area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Supervise and support the Volunteer manager in day-to-day operations and performance goals

· Serve as acting volunteer manager in their absence, assuming all related duties and responsibilities

· Provide oversight coordination and implementation of the volunteer program across CHFB’s service region

· Collaborate with CHFB departments to ensure strategic and efficient use of volunteer resources

· Develop recruitment materials and presentations appropriate to specific audiences

· Represent CHFB at speaking engagements and other public events

· Target recruitment for specially skilled volunteers, as needed or requested by staff

· Develop, update and conduct volunteer orientation and training programs

· Coordinate with CHFB staff to produce a quarterly report detailing the volunteers’ impact on productivity, efficiency, output and delivery of product, programs, and agency relationships

· Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools, clubs, and civic groups to recruit and engage volunteers

· Attend networking events and actively promote CHFB to increase visibility and volunteer participation

· Develop and administer surveys to assess volunteer satisfaction and implement improvements for enhanced safety engagement and retention

· Plan and coordinate quarterly volunteer appreciation activities and assist with the annual volunteer recognition event

· Utilize GivePulse or similar software to schedule track and communicate with volunteers

· Ensure accuracy of all volunteer communications and marketing materials including necessary translations

· Maintain a clean and well-stocked volunteer work area ensuring access to appropriate uniforms equipment and supplies

· Collaborate with the Engagement Manager to identify media opportunities for positive CHFB promotion

· Work with the Director of Programs to prepare and manage the volunteer program budget

· Communicate relevant updates to volunteers through verbal, written, and digital formats

· Travel to locations outside of the CHFB office to conduct business as needed

PHYSICAL/LIFE SHILLS/PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Excellent leadership, communication (including public speaking), and relationship building skills

· Strong organizational and time management abilities

· Ability to represent CHFB professionally at public events and meetings

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and volunteer software tools bilingual or multilingual especially Spanish communication skills are highly desirable but not required

· Valid Driver’s License required

· 3-5 years of experience in volunteer coordination nonprofit programming or community outreach preferred

· Experience supervising staff or leading volunteer teams strongly preferred

· Proven experience using GivePulse or similar platforms is required

· Prior involvement in nonprofit or community-based organizations is an asset

· Obtain First Aid, CPR, AED and ServSafe certification within 90 days of employment

· Willingness and ability to obtain other certificates required of Volunteer Supervisor

· Ability to consistently bend, twist, climb, reach above shoulders, kneel, squat, sit, walk, stand, and lift up to 75 pounds

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Experience

Additional Responsibilities:

· Assist in other areas of the food bank as assigned

· Willingness and ability to attend local, regional, or national conferences and meetings as requested

· Completion of special assignments, requests, and projects assigned

· Maintain a clean and orderly office environment

· Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance

· Evening and weekend hours as requested

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
